In the past few weeks, reports have claimed that Nottingham Forest are trying to sign Braga goalkeeper Matheus.
Stories from the Portuguese media said the Tricky Trees had failed in their first attempt, as a €4.5m was rejected by his club.
Now journalist Pedro Sepulveda, who had broken the news about that first offer, comes back to say Nottingham Forest took a second shot.
The Reds reportedly put €6m plus bonuses on the table this time. That, however, was turned down by Braga once again.
According to the report, club president Antonio Salvador has already claimed he’s only letting Matheus go for over €10m.
Braga have very good arguments to hold the player for now. That’s because he’s tied to a contract until 2027, and is protected by a €20m release clause.
What could play on Nottingham Forest’s side is that the offer is said to be attractive to the player. It’s been claimed that the chance to play the Premier League ‘seems to seduce him’, so maybe a little help from him will be decisive for a final push.
