Last week, Marca reported Nottingham Forest had resumed talks with RCD Mallorca over a move for Pablo Maffeo.

The Spanish newspaper also stated Mallorca have reduced the price from €10m to €8m and the right-back is keen on securing a move this summer.

Nottingham Forest have now made advances to try and sign the 28-year-old. That’s according to a fresh report from Marca, who claim Nottingham Forest raised their offer over the weekend.

Marca, without mentioning the details of the initial offer, report Nuno Espírito Santo’s side have increased their proposal to €5m plus €1.5m in bonuses.

Although the La Liga club are in favour of selling the fullback, their sporting director, Pablo Ortells, has no plans to accept Nottingham Forest’s latest offer.

Negotiations are underway between the two clubs as Mallorca, led by Ortells, want both the fixed fee and the bonuses to be raised.

Ortells wants €8m to sanction Maffeo’s sale and is standing firm, while Nottingham Forest, for now, are reluctant to go further.

Maffeo hopes Nottingham Forest can find a quick agreement and is putting on pressure, according to the claims. Last week, he asked Mallorca manager Jagoba Arrasate not to include him in the squad for a friendly against the reserve team.

Marca state: ‘All parties involved are confident in the agreement, but negotiations are dragging on for too long, and nothing can be guaranteed.’
