Nottingham Forest can snatch Daniel Svensson from Borussia Dortmund’s clutches in the summer window.
That’s according to FotbollDirekt, and they cover Nottingham Forest’s interest in the 23-year-old, who is on loan at BVB from FC Nordsjælland since the winter market.
Bild in Germany have reported the Bundesliga club want to make his stay permanent.
Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl told Ruhr Nachrichten on Monday that his side are in control of the left-back’s future.
“We have the reins safely in our hands. That’s what we agreed on last winter. That’s why we can take care of it in peace and quiet,” he said yesterday.
The Sweden international has so far played 771 minutes from 12 games for the German club and claims have stated they will have an obligation to make his loan stay permanent if he makes 15 appearances.
Dortmund have four more games left in the league and will play in the Club World Cup in June.
Despite Kehl’s optimism and claims from Germany, FotbollDirekt state Nottingham Forest ‘can challenge’ Borussia Dortmund for Svensson. This would only be possible if BVB won’t make his stay permanent.
In that case, Nuno Espírito Santo’s side can enter into negotiations with the Swedish club to buy Svensson.
Back in January, FD stated Nordsjælland requested SEK 90m [€8.2m] including loan fee of SEK 20m [€1.8m]. They could request a fee around this region from Nottingham Forest, which will be affordable for the Reds.
If BVB are obliged to buy Svensson, it’ll be difficult for Nottingham Forest to sign him in the next window. Therefore, the Premier League club have to act quickly if they wish to secure his services.
