Aston Villa were keen on bringing Loïc Badé back to the Premier League in January, after his disappointing spell at Nottingham Forest in the past.
Monchi came close to securing the centre-back’s services before he reportedly snubbed Villa to continue at Sevilla, although it felt there was more to the story.
Last month, the former Nottingham Forest man stated Aston Villa director Monchi was the first to understand what he rejected the Villans.
Friday’s edition of Marca carries an interview with the defender, where they again point out Aston Villa’s failure to sign him.
Badé joined Nottingham Forest on loan from Stade Rennais on deadline day of the 2022 summer window. Steve Cooper was then in charge at the Premier League club and didn’t include the Frenchman in his core plans.
The defender left Nottingham Forest without making an appearance. In the same window, he joined Sevilla on loan, and they made his stay permanent later that year.
The interview mainly focuses on Sevilla’s derby clash against Real Betis on Sunday. Marca also asked Badé if he would like to return to the Premier League even though he struggled at Nottingham Forest.
“Of course it’s something I have in mind. When you fail somewhere, you want to prove you can do it well. But today I’m a Sevilla player and I’m thinking about the present,” he said.
Asked if he thinks this will be his final Seville derby, he said: “Not at this point. After that, we don’t know what the future will be like, but as of today, we don’t.”
