On Friday, Globo Esporte reported Nottingham Forest have submitted an offer for Botafogo’s Jair Cunha. They didn’t mention the details of their proposal, but said it’s higher than the €13.72m they paid for him in February.

UOL back up Globo’s claim about the offer and then share the latest on Reds efforts to sign the 20-year-old.

They are unaware of the fee proposed by Nottingham Forest, but the report states Botafogo like what they have received.

Therefore, the negotiations between the two clubs have ‘advanced in the last few hours’, but there are still other stages that need to be completed to finalise the signing. If Nottingham Forest are able to sort out these steps, they can sign Jair.

The Brazilian club’s owner is John Textor, who also has stakes at Crystal Palace and Lyon.  The American has a good relationship with Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis.

UOL state Textor is leading Botafogo’s negotiations with Nuno Espírito Santo’s side for the centre-back’s transfer.

They point out Lyon have a priority option to sign the defender in the summer of 2026.
