Nottingham Forest have also ‘asked for information’ for Atalanta striker Duvan Zapata, who could leave the Italian side this month.
That’s according to TuttoMercatoWeb, who say the explosion of Rasmus Højlund has made an exit for Zapata possible in this window.
Atalanta are not looking at a sale but if they were to receive a €20m offer for the striker, the club would be ready to give away the highest-paid player in the squad so they could ‘definitively bet’ on Højlund.
Everton have already been in contact about a move but Nottingham Forest are the other Premier League team who are now interested in the South American.
Steve Cooper’s side have struggled for goals this season, with just 15 goals in 19 games, so are looking to add firepower to their forward line.
They could have an advantage over the Toffees in any negotiations also as they bought Remo Freuler from Atalanta in the summer and so have an existing relationship with Atalanta.
That was a €12m deal but Nottingham Forest would like to set up a loan deal with a right of redemption for Zapata.
That’s not a deal Atalanta are particularly interested in at present but if Forest ‘change the cards on the table’ there is an agreement there to be done if they want it.
