Bayer Leverkusen are edging closer towards completing a move for Aston Villa’s Emiliano Buendía in the winter market, according to Sky Deutschland.

The Bundesliga winners made firm progress in their efforts to sign the 28-year-old and have reached an agreement with Aston Villa.

Two days ago, we covered claims from Germany that Xabi Alonso’s side were finalising the details of the deal with the Villans for Buendía’s transfer.

On Tuesday, Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg reported medical booked for the Argentina international yesterday. The deal has moved to the final stage and Sky now bring the latest on this impending transfer.

According to the report, the attacking midfielder has completed his medical tests with Bayer Leverkusen. They have already secured an agreement with Aston Villa to sign him on loan with an option to buy.

Sky say the South American is ‘about to move’ to the new club with immediate effect and ‘nothing should stand in the way’ of Buendía from joining Bayer Leverkusen on loan until the end of this season.

At this point in time, only the official announcement is missing to complete the transfer. Buendía clocked in 464 minutes from 20 games for Aston Villa this season.
