Başakşehir Technical Director Emre Belözoğlu has insisted there is no truth linking him with a move to Hull City, despite his relationship with owner Acun Ilıcalı.
Emre has been speaking to Aksam regarding various issues, during which the possibility of a move to Hull was brought up.
That’s because the Tigers have something of a Turkish connection these days thanks to their owner Acun Ilıcalı, who bought the club from the Allam family in January 2022.
Their star player, Ozan Tufan, is also Turkish and there have been numerous reports that they will look to make use of the market in Turkey thanks to Ilıcalı and his connections.
One of those links has been to Emre, who was first linked with a potential move to the club in various reports in Turkey last season.
He did not make the move but has continued to be linked with a potential switch ever since, although those reports have died down as Hull have done well under Liam Rosenior.
It seems there is nothing behind such claims, though, at least as far as Emre is concerned, with him insisting as much in his latest comments.
“Acun Ilıcalı is an older brother that I value very much, but there is nothing serious except the jokes we make,” he said.
“There is already a young, dynamic and knowledgeable coach at the head of the team. I hope he will carry the team to the Premier League. Then, too, we can evaluate if he wants us to.”
