Fulham and Crystal Palace are in the picture to sign 1. FSV Mainz 05’s Nadiem Amiri.
That’s according to Sky Deutschland, who state the 28-year-old’s exit is ‘still possible’ in the summer window.
They say a top Bundesliga club are showing concrete interest in the player desired by Fulham and Crystal Palace.
Details aren’t mentioned and although Borussia Dortmund have been linked, Sky say they aren’t chasing him.
The report adds there’s ‘notable interest’ from Italy and England, where both Fulham and Crystal Palace are showing interest in the midfielder.
Amiri operated as a central midfielder and at times as a defensive midfielder this season and still contributed 13 goals [eight goals and five assists] for FSV Mainz.
After his side’s 2-2 draw against Bayer Leverkusen at the weekend, the player was asked about his future, and said: “I’m going on vacation now, then we’ll see.”
Marco Silva’s side and the FA Cup winners could tussle to sign Amiri but it’s unclear if they are willing to make an offer for him.
The Germany international’s contract lasts until 2028 and doesn’t include a release clause. Sky report his ‘realistic price tag’ is around €18-20m, which should be within the reach of Fulham and Crystal Palace.
