Thomas Tuchel returning to Chelsea this summer is ‘not unthinkable’ as he eyes up his next role after Bayern Munich.
That’s according to BILD, who say Tuchel would be happy to return to Stamford Bridge in the summer if the opportunity was presented to him.
Tuchel is set to be out of work at the end of the season, with Bayern Munich announcing this week that he would be stepping away from his position after seemingly losing the support of the dressing room.
The question now is where the German coach will go next, with several big sides set to be on the hunt for a new manager ahead of next season.
Chelsea are not one of them at this moment in time, but current boss Mauricio Pochettino is not entirely safe, with this season having proven to be something of a challenging, and indeed disappointing, one for the Argentine and Chelsea.
There have been consistent rumours that Todd Boehly and co may look to change again in the summer and Tuchel would be open to the idea of a return.
He ‘always raved about London’ and Chelsea and was ‘extremely surprised’ when they decided to sack him in 2022.
He loved his time at the club, despite it being ‘his most intense stop to date’ and a return is ‘not unthinkable’ for him even if it was Boehly who sacked him in the first place.
The idea is that the Blues may be interested as he is the last coach to have enjoyed any success with Chelsea and they’d very much like a repeat of that, if Pochettino cannot deliver any between now and the end of the season.
