As was reported during the January transfer window, Tottenham are starting to take a look at a replacement for Hugo Lloris.

While the Frenchman is still a good goalkeeper, his performances appear to have dipped of late, especially since his return from the World Cup.

He will be Antonio Conte’s number one at Tottenham until the end of the campaign, but what happens after that remains to be seen.

One of the names Fabio Paratici has been looking of late is Alex Meret, with it reported by Ciro Venerato that Spurs remain interested in the player.

However, they aren’t the only ones, according to the same Ciro Venerato, who doubled down on his earlier claims of Tottenham’s interest before adding a bit more.

He told CalcioNapol24TV, relayed by Area Napoli: “There will be a chat with the Napoli management to understand if they can carry on together. The boy certainly hopes to renew with higher wages. Both sides have taken their time.

“Merit is doing very well in Naples and would only leave for a very important experience. In the Premier League, there is not only Tottenham, but also other teams that follow him. The Azzurri are looking around and if Meret were to leave, then they would take Vicario.”

Therefore, it appears that Napoli are already planning for a life without Meret, just in case a club, whether it be Tottenham or someone else, comes along and takes him away.
