Brentford’s January signing Kevin Schade has admitted it was always his ‘dream’ to play in the Premier League and he couldn’t pass that up when the Bees came calling in January.

Schade joined Brentford on loan from German side Freiburg in the January transfer window, initially only joining until the end of the season.

His deal includes a clause to turn the move permanent for around €25m, though, with reports in Germany explaining that it is tied to a certain number of appearances.

Brentford themselves admitted in their announcement for Schade that the clause is likely to be activated by the end of the season, with the plan for him to feature regularly in Thomas Frank’s side in the second half of the campaign.

Schade is certainly hoping that is the case, insisting he is not worried about the clause and the perceived high price that Brentford will need to pay for him.

“It’s a big sum, of course, but in England there’s simply more money than in German football. Of course I’m honoured by that in a certain way, but you mustn’t forget these other conditions in England,” he told Sky Sports Germany.

“The Premier League has always been my dream. Brentford is a good club so I can get used to English football. Things have been going great for the team at Freiburg lately.

“For me, it wasn’t bad, but definitely worse than last year. Then there was the Europa League and the untypical training rhythm, which made it harder for me to come back after my injury. All that played into the decision and in the end I decided to make the switch.

“Yes definitely (he’ll stay). If I play well and do everything right, then yes.”
