When Victor Camarasa’s joined Crystal Palace this summer, he probably anticipated something much different to his current situation.
The Spanish midfielder joined the Eagles on a season-long loan from Real Betis back in August, with game time likely to be hard to come by at the La Liga club.
He’s yet to get the minutes he wants at Selhurst Park, though, managing just five minutes of Premier League football to date (he also played 90 minutes in the Carabao Cup).
That’s not ideal, and it seems it’s causing some concern back at Betis, according to Estadio Deportivo.
Betis included a €13.5m purchase option in the midfielder’s move to Palace this summer, but that was dependent on variables.
One of those was Palace staying up in the Premier League, and the other was Camarasa playing between fifteen and twenty games.
At this moment in time that looks very unlikely, with one appearance in seven suggesting he’s unlikely to feature in the number of games needed to activate the clause.
Estadio say the numbers are ‘not very promising’ for Camarasa, and ‘even less for Real Betis’. They say the fifteen to twenty games figure looked ‘reasonable’ in the summer but today are ‘very far away’.
The hope is that the situation will change in the coming months, with it explained that this week could be essential to Camarasa turning things around, as Luka Milivojevic is suspended.
That allows Camarasa to stake a claim for a starting place moving forward, something ‘Betis will thank him’ for.
