Portuguese football clubs often publish lists of officials and guests at their matches, and this includes scouts from other clubs.
It’s been going on for years and is a way to see which clubs are taking an interest in players, often long before actual transfer efforts are made by them.
Norwich City aren’t one of those seen regularly in Portugal, that would instead be bigger spenders such as Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham.
However, A Bola report that on Saturday Norwich sent an official to the match between Vizela and Benfica. The latter face RB Salzburg in their first Champions League group game this week, whereas Norwich’s next match is against Leicester City.
Others clubs with scouts in attendance included Atletico Madrid, AS Monaco and PSV Eindhoven.
Benfica won the match 2-1 with goals from Peter Musa and Angel Di Maria. It’s likely any Norwich transfer attention would either be on a Benfica fringe player or someone from Vizela, they’re not really in the market to take the Lisbon club’s best players away.
