Claims that defender Antef Tsoungui was something of a problem player at Brighton were “nonsense” and the player is proving that at Feyenoord.
That’s according to Kein Geloel, a Feyenoord podcast, relayed by Voetbal Zone, who have been praising the player today.
Tsoungui left Brighton earlier this year on a free transfer, joining the Dutch side and bringing an end to a five-year stay with the Seagulls.
He joined them in 2018 from Chelsea’s youth set up but, despite Brighton’s determination to keep bringing youth players into the first team, only ever made one appearance for the first team.
He’s now on loan at FC Dordrecht and has established himself as a key player in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, with 11 appearances and a goal and an assist to his name so far.
That’s not gone unnoticed by Feyenoord, who are seemingly very excited about the 20-year-old’s future and unconvinced by rumours that had followed him from his time at Brighton.
“Can we please not talk about him so much? Otherwise, we will lose him soon!”, they said.
“He can do something about it. At Brighton he was labeled as a difficult boy. I always think that’s a nonsense label. What is difficult? I like boys who have a bit of their own opinion, isn’t that nice?
“I’m afraid that if he continues this line, we will have lost him during the winter break. Either to Feyenoord, or to another Eredivisie club.”
