Liverpool are one of a number of Premier League clubs to have been credited with interest in Ibrahima Konate, with multiple claims coming from the German media in January.
That was brought to the present with Monday claims from The Athletic that the Reds are ‘working to finalise’ a deal for the RB Leipzig player, with it stated they’d likely have to pay his €40m release clause.
The situation was then backed up by L’Equipe in France, and now German newspaper Bild give their slant. They state, according to their own information, that there’s so far been ‘no conversations’ between Leipzig and Liverpool regarding the defender.
On top of that, Konate’s camp haven’t ‘signalled any thoughts in this direction’ to the Bundesliga club.
Should Liverpool be prepared to pay the €40m as the clause dictates then there’s no need for in-depth negotiations with Leipzig ahead of a transfer, with most of the talks likely to be between the Premier League club and the player’s representatives.
As it stands, RB Leipzig are said to be unaware if their player is about to sign for Liverpool because there’s been no indication to them about the move.
