Tottenham Hotspur appointing Fabio Paratici this summer brought the club praise from several quarters.

He’d overseen some high profile business at Juventus and clearly has transfer contacts throughout Europe. Paratici can also provide a buffer between the team and its successes, or otherwise, for Daniel Levy and presumably allow him to concentrate on other things.

Not everyone around Juventus has been sorry to see him leave the Turin club, feeling a lot of the transfer business during his time in charge ended up being costly in the long term.

Whilst the Serie A side may have made a string of free signings which were impressive on the face of things, the associated costs and subsequent performances haven’t pleased a lot of Juve followers.

TuttoJuve have spoken to Giovanni Cobolli Gigli, a former Juventus president, and he’s in the camp happy to see Paratici at Tottenham rather than at the Bianconeri.

Federico Cherubini has taken over from the now Spurs director, and Gigli said: “I hope that Cherubini has learned more from Marotta than from Paratici: his free transfer and capital gains policy has not proved to be profitable: it is no coincidence that he was removed. I do not know Cherubini: I hope he can work well.”

Fabio Paratici will now be judged on his work with Tottenham, and will be expected to impress immediately… there’s unlikely to be a honeymoon period.
