Two days ago, we covered claims from the Turkish press that Newcastle United have made official contact to sign Fenerbahçe star İrfan Kahveci. It was also explained the winger is about to be transferred in the summer window.
The Turkey international has starred this season, scoring 18 goals and registering 12 assists from 45 games.
Akšam state the 28-year-old has ‘performed at a high level’ during the current campaign and that has seen him attract interest from Newcastle.
It’s explained that the Tyneside club have been following him closely and ‘will make an official attempt’ to secure his services in the next window.
The report adds the attacker, who dreams of making a switch to another European club, will ‘respond positively’ to the Magpies’ offer, if it can help the Istanbul club earn a good fee from his sale. There’s no mention of a figure that’s needed to convince Fenerbahçe.
As well as Newcastle, Kahveci is also being chased by clubs in Italy and Saudi Arabia. As per the website, the player is expected to make the final decision on his future after the Euros.
