As reported by L’Equipe on Tuesday, Newcastle are interested in Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Alassane Pléa.
The forward is one of many targets being looked at by the Magpies this January, and it was reported they had asked Allan Saint-Maximin for more information on his friend, as the two had played together at OGC Nice in the past.
Well, it appears that interest is now becoming something a bit more if SportBild journalist Christian Falk is to be believed.
Taking to Twitter to report what he will have revealed on his show Englische Woche, the German reporter claims that Newcastle ‘want to make a bid for Alassane Pléa within the next 24 hours’.
The amount isn’t revealed in the tweet, but it does outline clear intent from Eddie Howe’s side to see if a deal can be struck with their Bundesliga counterparts regarding the French forward, and are trying to act quickly.
The 28-year-old has made 20 appearances in all competitions for Gladbach this season to date, scored three goals and picked up one assist.
