Alexander Isak has starred for Newcastle United since joining them from Real Sociedad in 2022.
The Tyneside club could return to the La Liga side to try and sign Robin Le Normand in the summer.
That’s at least what journalist Rubén Uría is reporting, and his claim is relayed by today’s edition of Mundo Deportivo. He states the centre-back is being chased by Newcastle and Atlético Madrid.
The 27-year-old’s deal lasts until 2026 and the report says it has a €60m release clause, which Los Rojiblancos aren’t in a position to match.
In order to convince La Real, Uría claims Atlético could offer Javi Galán plus €20m in cash in exchange. This won’t please the Andalusian club, especially given that his current market value is €40m.
Another factor that could make it difficult for Diego Simeone’s side is Newcastle interest in the defender.
According to the journalist, Eddie Howe’s side are ‘willing to pay’ €30m, which includes a €25m fixed fee. Napoli, on the other hand, could offer €27m plus €5m in bonuses.
Real Sociedad want to renew their player’s contract, so a lot will depend on his desires.
The Spaniard has scored two goals from 37 matches this season.
