Brazilian wing-back Wesley has arguably been AS Roma’s best player this season. In that process, the 22-year-old has caught the attention of Newcastle United.
Wesley has played 14 Serie A games, scoring three times. He’s played on both the right and left, showing versatility. With some players struggling to adapt to Gian Piero Gasperini’s demands, he’s had no problems showing the way.
The Brazil international has shown a willingness to bomb up and down and often invert into central areas. ASRomaLive report he is ‘particularly popular’ at Newcastle United.
Many English clubs have scouted the wing-back but the Magpies seem to have most interest in his performances. Newcastle United hold more interest than other Premier League clubs.
AS Roma beat competition from Manchester City in the summer, paying €25m for Wesley.
That valuation has now doubled. Newcastle United and other suitors will have to pay €50m to have a chance of landing him.
Even a summer deal could be difficult for Newcastle United

A January exit is out of the question and it would take something dramatic for a summer move too. Everything depends on how much is offered, with the player’s reputation likely to rise further.
Given Wesley’s age, signing the Brazilian would be seen as a long term investment. Newcastle United could utilise him for a few years and still be able to sell on.
