Federico Gatti has been a regular for Juventus this season under Thiago Motta and the Italian has done well for the club so far.

There were initial doubts about his future at the club but it seems as if he is convincing Juve, which comes after interest from Newcastle United.

That is because TuttoSport report today about the Magpies’ interest in the centre-back during the summer transfer window.

The Mapies had made an offer for Gatti, offering Juventus a fee of around €25m. Both Juve and Gatti rejected the approach, as their will was to continue together. The Bianconeri boss also didn’t want the ex-Frosinone man sold.

Newcastle’s door for the defender is now likely closed, as Motta has been left impressed by Gatti’s abilities and how he influences the dressing room and younger players. Juve have put forward a new deal, with a pay rise, for Gatti that will run until 2029.

Tuttosport say Newcastle United were ‘ready to put €25m on the table’ for the 26-year-old, but he wasn’t keen on the move. There’s a chance these claims are at least partly motivated by a desire to make Gatti look loyal.
