On June 1st, Bild reported that Newcastle United have a ‘strong interest’ in Dean Huijsen, and they are ready to battle it out with Borussia Dortmund for his signature.
Juventus allowed the centre-back to spend the year on loan at AS Roma, and he featured regularly for the Giallorossi.
The 18-year-old will return to the Turin club, but they want to cash in from his sale, to help them raise funds to sign Atalanta’s Teun Koopmeiners.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who say Newcastle, BVB and Bayer Leverkusen are all in the picture to sign Huijsen in the summer window.
The Turin club are planning to collect around €25-30m for the Spain U21 international. As well as the defender, the Magpies are also looking at Juventus’ Matias Soulé.
The 21-year-old winger was on loan at Frosinone during the recently concluded season, and he managed 11 goals and three assists from 39 games.
Newcastle, the Bundesliga winners and a few English other clubs have set their sights on the Argentina U21 international. Juve are aiming to earn at least €30-35m from his sale.
In short, Newcastle are in the picture to sign Huijsen and Soulé, and they can sign them both for €55-65m. Juve are keen to sell the duo and Samuel Iling-Junior, as they look to raise funds to buy Koopmeiners.
