According to Greek website Sportdog.Gr, Newcastle United are among the clubs who are monitoring Olympiakos goalkeeper Stefanos Kapino.
The 23 year old is reportedly drawing attention from clubs like Udinese and Bologna, with claims Belgian side Club Brugge are currently leading the chase for the goalkeeper.
It’s reported any club interested signing Kapino would have to table a bid in the region of €2m, but it seems at this stage he will be heading to the Jupiler League.
Kapino has a lot of potential, and it’s no surprise Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez is showing an interest in him.
Newcastle United were linked with a number of goalkeepers in the last window, including Kapino’s compatriot Orestis Karnezis. Napoli duo Pepe Reina and Rafael were also being tracked by the Premier League side at the time.
However, the goalkeepers Newcastle United were chasing last summer did have more experience than Kapino, and it’s likely the youngster would be seen as one for the future if he did join the English side.
