A few days ago, reports from the Italian media revealed Newcastle United’s interest in three Salernitana players.
It was claimed by Gianluca Di Marzio that the Magpies sent football director Dan Ashworth to scout Lorenzo Pirola, Lassana Coulibaly and Boulaye Dia.
Now as La Repubblica features a story about Salernitana’s transfer window, Newcastle get a mention a couple of times.
Speaking of Dia, the outlet claims the Magpies were the latest club to become interested in the striker. The player is currently injured, set to miss the African Cup of Nations, and with a January move knocking on his door, it’s even possible he won’t play for the Italian club again.
It’s recalled that the centre-forward’s contract includes a €22m release clause, valid until the 19th of January. Since there’s ‘no shortage of suitors’, Newcastle may want to move fast.
La Repubblica also back-up that the Magpies are interested in Pirola and Coulibaly as well, although there is no big news on potential moves from the Premier League side for those two players.
