Newcastle United and Tottenham are both in the mix for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush this summer, with the German side potentially opening the doors to a sale.
That’s according to SportBILD, who say the Premier League duo are interested in the 25-year-old thanks to his impressive performances this season.
Marmoush has been impressive in the Bundesliga this year, with ten goals and six assists in 20 games in the league, and 15 goals and six assists in 32 games in all competitions.
Those numbers have naturally earned him attention and SportBILD report that he is ‘expected to bring in’ €30m in the summer.
According to the newspaper, Marmoush is developing so quickly that a transfer to a top club is possible and his ‘future is unclear’ because of that.
The growing feeling is that if he continues his performances until the end of the season, there is every chance that sports director Markus Krösche will give his approval to a transfer too.
He needs to trim down Eintracht’s massive squad, while there will also need to be a serious cut for financial reasons if Frankfurt were to surprisingly miss out of Europa League qualification.
In either instance, or indeed both, Marmoush would be one of those he’d look to sell and there are suitors too, with Newcastle and Tottenham are interested in the forward and very much in the mix.
Of those two, it would presumably be Tottenham more willing to pay than Newcastle given they still have money left over from Harry Kane’s sale and the Magpies have found themselves right up against PSR thanks to their spending in recent years.
Neither have made a move as yet but they are interested, potentially watching and waiting to see what happens with Frankfurt between now and the end of the season before making their moves.
