Since the takeover at Newcastle United, transfer rumours surrounding the club have not only grown in the European market, but in South America as well.
And as more players start being linked with to a move to the Magpies, we now see the name of Alan Varela added to that list.
The report is made by Directv Sports Radio journalist Fafi Perez. He had already claimed that ‘many’ European clubs had been interested in the Boca Juniors starlet, and Newcastle now join that battle.
It’s said the Magpies are willing to pay US$18m (£15m) for the midfielder, although it’s not clear whether that bid has been submitted yet.
The same journalist made the same reports on the radio, and according to La12Tuittera on Twitter it was also claimed that Boca believe the offer would be for a summer transfer.
It’s also believed that in case the attempt it’s true, then it’s unlikely that the Argentine side would turn down that much money.
With the Argentine media giving big coverage to Boca Juniors, it shouldn’t take long until there are more details on this rumour.
