Despite sections of the Italian media being confident that AC Milan have a chance of signing Sven Botman from Lille this month, the slant from the Netherlands isn’t the same.

Voetbal International have two reports on the player today, with both rubbishing the Rossoneri’s chances. Milan want to sign the defender on loan, and then have the chance to make the move permanent in the summer.

However, it’s thought this simply won’t be acceptable to Lille, who don’t want to let their player leave in a deal structured that way.

Elsewhere, Voetbal International say Newcastle ‘seems the only route’ for Botman should he want a transfer in the winter market. Italian claims are dismissed, and it’s explained that the Magpies have the financial ability to please Lille this month, something that Milan probably won’t be able to.

Therefore, if Botman is determined to leave Lille in the winter market, then he’ll have to seriously consider the Newcastle United option, despite Eddie Howe’s club being in a relegation fight.
