Newcastle United will not get the chance to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot in the January transfer window, as the Frenchman will only decide his future after that point.
That’s according to Sport, who cover his future today amid Barcelona’s interest in signing him on a free transfer.
Rabiot is out of contract at Juventus in the summer and that has led to a race for his signature as he is free to negotiate with clubs around Europe from January 1st.
His performances for France at the World Cup have only added to the fight, with several sides all keen on a potential bargain next summer.
Newcastle are one of them and have been linked on several occasions in the last few weeks, with it stated earlier this week that they are ready to make a rich offer for the midfielder.
It seems that would be in vain, though, as Sport report that Rabiot ‘will not make a final decision’ on his future until after the January transfer window.
He ‘will not listen to offers’ that will be presented to him next months, despite having received ‘significant offers’ from the Premier League.
One of those is presumably from Newcastle, who it seems will have to wait before making their proposal in the race to secure Rabiot when he becomes a free agent in the summer.
