Earlier this month, we covered Foot Mercato’s interview with Bilal Brahimi, as the young Middlesbrough prodigy revealed his goals for the current season.

Wanting to make a name for himself in the first-team as quickly as possible, the forward was handed his first taste of professional football earlier this season in a 2-1 win against Rochdale in the EFL Cup.

Also impressing in Boro’s youth side and reserves, the 18-year-old is the subject of attention from a number of clubs, including Newcastle United, according to France Football.

The Magpies are one of three clubs named by the French outlet, with Rennes and RB Leipzig, known for giving youth a chance, the other two.

According to them, any of these sides could ‘position themselves’ in the coming weeks in order to make a move for Brahimi, whose contract with Middlesbrough is due to run out at the end of the season.

Tony Pulis’ side are said to be trying to get him to sign his first professional contract, but it seems that with all the attention around him, he’s waiting to see what other opportunities come knocking, most likely wanting to integrate a first-team as quickly as possible.

Is that something Rafa Benitez can realistically offer him?
