After Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund confirmed the purchase of Newcastle United last month, the Tyneside club are not only being linked to top quality players, but also upcoming young talent.

One such player in the latter category is Red Bull Salzburg star Karim Adeyemi. Initial claims were focusing on interest from Bundesliga sides, but the 19-year-old’s form this season [14 goals and two assists in 20 matches] has not gone unnoticed elsewhere.

According to Sport1, the Magpies and Tottenham Hotspur have ‘knocked’ on the striker’s door. His contract with the Austrian club expires in 2024 and he is valued at around €35m.

Despite the approaches made by the two Premier League sides, neither of them will end up signing the Germany international, according to the German slant. A move to Newcastle or Spurs is ‘out of the question’ for both the player and his entourage.

Hence, it is ‘unlikely’ for Adeyemi to end up at either the Tyneside club or Tottenham.

At the moment, Sport1 say that Borussia Dortmund are ‘right at the front’ to acquire Adeyemi’s services.
