After being forced to miss out on the Europa League next season, AC Milan are undergoing something of an overhaul this summer.
Not only did the club want to switch the squad up for their new manager anyway, but they also need to raise funds and trim down the wage bill.
There are several player they can look to cut from the squad, and Fabio Borini is one of them according to Sport Mediaset.
They say the Serie A side need to cut two strikers from a group of four, including Andre Silva, Patrick Cutrone, Suso and Borini. The Italian has two options at this moment in time, Newcastle United and Bordeaux.
There’s no mention of how much AC Milan would want for Borini, or if he’d be interested in a return to the Premier League, just that the interest is there from the Magpies.
He’s unlikely to cost much given Milan want to get rid although it’s debatable whether their interest is genuine.
While they could do with another forward after letting several go this summer, and Borini can fill several positions, his record isn’t excellent, and they could probably spend their money better elsewhere.
The fact he used to play for Sunderland is another negative, although Steve Bruce used to manage their rivals and that didn’t stop Mike Ashley hiring him.
