Alexis Mac Allister is set to leave his club in the summer, with Newcastle United keen on him as a new partner for Bruno Guimaraes.
That’s according to the Argentinian edition of AS, who say that the midfielder’s great season has ‘attracted the attention’ of the big clubs in Europe.
They say that, according to their sources, the player’s future is ‘far from’ the south coast and he has an agreement with the club that he can leave if the club receive an economic offer that matches their ‘aspirations’ for a transfer.
They have no intention of selling the midfielder on the cheap and expect to receive an offer ‘close to €70m’ for their number ten.
His departure is almost a reality at this point, although where he ends up remains to be seen as there are several clubs interest in his signature. Newcastle are one of the sides in the Premier League.
They’re looking for the ‘perfect complement’ to Guimaraes in their midfield and want to add quality additions in the summer, particularly with Champions League qualification for next season almost certain.
Finding the money for his signing would not be a ‘problem’ as Eddie Howe and co have the full backing and financial muscle of Newcastle’s Saudi Arabian owners.
Whether they’re willing to match the €70m demands remains to be seen, but they’re certainly in the mix and think an Argentinian/Brazilian combo in the middle of the park could be the way forwards.
