Newcastle United are going to step up their efforts to sign Federico Chiesa from Juventus this summer and unite him with Sandro Tonali.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who say the Magpies are planning ‘new talks’ in an attempt to make a deal happen for the Italian star.
They explain that Newcastle are ‘increasingly ambitious’ after securing Champions League football last season and, after signing Tonali, are now considering an ‘all-Italian one-two’ to get Chiesa as well.
Their relationship with the player’s agent, Fali Ramadani, ‘are excellent’ and using this as a basis their plan is to ‘build an interesting operation’ that could tempt Juventus into a sale.
The next few days will see them carry out ‘more direct surveys’ with the player and his club, with ‘new exploratory talks’ planned to try and work out the feasibility of a deal happen.
There is no perceived hurry from Newcastle at this point, with the Magpies more than happy to take their time and work out a deal ‘without tears’ for all parties involved.
Their apparent interest in Chiesa is nothing new, with it reported earlier this week that they had already moved to try and make a transfer happen.
That followed a previous claim that they could easily match Juventus’ demands for the player and was the latest in a long line of reports in the past few months suggesting the Magpies were keen.
It seems there’s no rush from those in charge at St James Park for now, but talks are happening behind the scenes nonetheless and it’s a situation to keep a close eye on.
