With his contract situation at Juventus currently up in the air, Adrien Rabiot is attracting a lot of attention on the transfer market, especially from Newcastle United.

The Magpies have been the most linked with the Frenchman, who has six months left on his contract in Turin, and that continues to be the case on Tuesday.

Gazzetta dello Sport have a big spread on Rabiot’s situation, with it made clear that Juventus will try and keep him if they can by offering him a new contract.

Whether he accepts it remains to be seen, as he is coming to a crossroads in his career, aged 28 and faced with, possibly, the last big deal of his career.

Juventus can only offer so much, but it’s made clear that ‘for certain English teams’, which is when both Chelsea and Newcastle are mentioned as being ‘in the first row’, with both sides being a situation where ‘a million more or less’ in wages doesn’t affect them.

While money is important to him, so is where his next team plays, as the Serie A side are currently facing ‘a possible penalty in the league or a heavy sentence in Europe’ due to ongoing investigations, which could ‘push the Frenchman to a farewell’.

Rabiot, down his end, ‘would like some certainties’ regarding his next club, such as whether they will play Champions League or not.

As things stand, ‘Liverpool and Chelsea would be out’, while Newcastle, currently in the top three in the Premier League, would ‘naturally have more chances’ of convincing him at this moment in time.

Something to keep an eye on, as we head into a very important few weeks for Rabiot, who is now free to speak with whomever he wants about a free transfer, which is likely to include the Magpies at some point.
