Newcastle United are interested in Botafogo youngster Jeffinho, with a scout having visited the club this week to take a look at the 22-year-old.
That’s according to journalist Jose Passini, who says the Magpies are one of several sides keeping an eye on the forward.
He reports that Jeffinho may have played his last game for the Brazilian club in the 3-1 win over Santos this week, with the player currently being ‘monitored’ by European clubs.
Scouts from Ajax, Werder Bremen and clubs from England and Portugal were in Brazil looking at the youngster this week and he could become the ‘biggest sale’ in the club’s history.
Newcastle are one of the English sides to have been monitoring the player and were ‘delighted’ by what they saw from him. Indeed, it is stated that a scout was at the club on Thursday to watch him.
They face competition from around Europe for his signature, with scouts from Werder Bremen, Ajax and AZ Alkmaar in attendance and ‘informed’ about the player.
What sort of figure it will take to sign the youngster, who has a contract until 2025, isn’t mentioned but the Magpies are certainly in the picture for his signature.
