Newcastle United have included Ajax’s Brian Brobbey in their January target list.
That’s according to Sports World Ghana, who state the Magpies are keeping close tabs on the striker.
Newcastle have been ‘facing challenges with injuries’ this season and Eddie Howe is still without a few players, including attackers Harvey Barnes and Jacob Murphy. Striker Callum Wilson returned from a thigh injury last weekend.
The outlet claims the situation has promoted Eddie Howe to ‘explore options’ to bolster the Tyneside club’s attack next month and this is where the 21-year-old would fit in.
It’s claimed the Netherlands international has drawn attention from the Premier League side, who are ‘considering a move’ for him in the winter market.
Brobbey joined the Eredivisie side initially on loan from RB Leipzig in 2022 and his stay there was made permanent the same year. He finished his debut season at Ajax with 14 goals and four assists, and has managed nine goals and four assists from 21 games this season.
His deal lasts until 2027 and the report doesn’t mention the fee requested by Ajax or the price Newcastle would be willing to pay in January.
