Earlier on Friday, we covered a story from France claiming that West Ham United had joined the race to sign Terem Moffi from Lorient.

That was after Southampton had made a bid and had it refused, and the latest on the situation involves Newcastle United, who are looking for another striker.

This comes after their signing of Alexander Isak in the summer, but the Sweden international has often been injured, leaving Eddie Howe a tad short up front.

The idea of them spending relatively big on a new forward isn’t overly surprising, but it remains to be seen if Newcastle can convince Moffi to come to England.

The news of the Magpies being interested comes from journalist Ignazio Genuardi, who states the Premier League club are ‘considering making a bid’ for the player, who has 11 league goals in 17 appearances this season.

It was previously stated that Lorient wanted €25-30m for their star, but this update is a bit more precise, with the reporter claiming the minimum is €28-30m (bonuses included) plus a percentage of a future transfer.

Whether that’s something Newcastle are prepared to match isn’t said, but they will need to be convincing, as L’Equipe, who have an article about Nice having their first bid rejected, explain the player ‘sees himself continuing his progress in a more prestigious club’ in France rather than head abroad.
