Newcastle United seem to be working hard on the signing of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio.
Recent reports from the Italian media claim the Magpies are putting the best offer on the table for the transfer, even though that doesn’t guarantee he’ll join them.
The information is brought by journalist Ciro Venerato, who on 1 Station Radio (via Tutto Juve), claims Newcastle had a “conference call” with the player himself.
He also claimed that while Juventus are offering the midfielder a salary worth €7m per season, the Magpies can pay him €3m more than that.
He said: “Newcastle had a conference call with Milinkovic-Savic. Juve are willing to offer the player €7m, the English can get to €10m, plus a higher figure for Lotito, like €60m. Unless Newcastle take a pool shot in January, Milinkovic-Savicv will stay at Lazio. The midfielder, however, is hoping for something better than the Magpies, perhaps even from more important clubs.”
Now as other clubs look far from what Eddie Howe’s side are offering for the player, perhaps he’ll end up thinking twice about his wish, especially if Newcastle wait until the summer and nothing more attractive shows up.
If ends up being the case, perhaps the Magpies will also be able to offer him European football, as they currently sit third in the Premier League, admittedly having played a game more than Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United.
