Newcastle can ‘easily afford’ a deal for Bayern Munich forward Sadio Mané this summer and the move to St James Park ‘would be attractive’ to him.
That’s according to Sport BILD, who cover the player today amid persistent rumours in England that Mané could join the Magpies in this window.
They state confidently that Bayern could easily afford both the transfer fee and Mané’s wages, which are believed to be the best in Bavaria at €22m per year.
The Magpies are ‘swimming in money’ since their Saudi Arabian takeover and so could afford that figure and the fee to get him without much of a problem.
He would be interested in the switch too as Newcastle can offer him a challenge for the top four, perhaps even more in the Premier League, and Champions League football after securing it this season.
However, Newcastle are yet to make any sort of move, with both SportBILD and BILD’s information that he ‘has not yet received an official offer’ from the Magpies.
Indeed, Mané is insisting that he wants to stay at Bayern and improve on a difficult first season at the club, but the value of that commitment will be seen when an ‘interesting club’ officially enquires for him.
If such an offer did arrive and was ‘suitable’, Bayern would also probably be willing to negotiate a deal. The plans under Thomas Tuchel mean that at least one winger can leave this summer and Mané is one of them.
