Because his contract at Borussia Mönchengladbach expires at the end of the season, Marcus Thuram is becoming a target for many, many clubs.

Tottenham have been linked a number of times, but we are now seeing other clubs from the Premier League, such as Newcastle United and Aston Villa being thrown in the mix.

The latest comes from French journalist Ignazio Genuardi, who took to Twitter to explain that a lot of clubs are circling the France international, who is currently in Qatar with his national team.

He does explain that Arsenal and their north London rivals have a ‘more or less attentive eye’ on the situation, but it’s Newcastle and Aston Villa who appear to be more ready to make a move.

Genuardi explains that the Magpies ‘could make a bid as early as this winter’ for the forward, who has 13 goals in 17 games for Gladbach this season, and ‘the same when it comes to Aston Villa’.

Having signed Alexander Isak over the summer, Newcastle aren’t as desperate for a striker as they once were, but Thuram is also good coming off the wing, which is perhaps what Eddie Howe wants him for.

As for Aston Villa, the arrival of Unai Emery will have changed a lot, and it could be the Frenchman is being eyed up to give the Spaniard’s team a bit more firepower for the second half of the campaign.

Regarding the fee, it has been often reported that the Bundesliga side will want around €10m for their star if he were to leave in January.
