With Newcastle United now finding a good patch of form and slowly making their way up the table, Eddie Howe and those around him can start thinking about the summer a bit more seriously.
The Magpies currently sit 14th in the Premier League, a good seven points ahead of Burnley, meaning the idea of spending lavishly in the summer to start building their star-studded squad is becoming more of a reality.
While some big names will undoubtedly be sent to St James’ Park over the next few months, some targets will be more realistic than others, such as Wilfried Stephane Singo, currently at Torino.
The right-back, who has been a key player under Ivan Juric this season, scoring three goals and assisting another four in 26 league appearances, has caught the eye of Newcastle with his performances, and plans for a summer transfer are already in the work.
This is according to Torino Granata in Italy, who explain it’s ‘unlikely’ to see him move to city rivals Juventus, and ‘he will almost certainly play in the Premier League’ next season.
Their sources state that the club ‘most advanced’ right now are Newcastle, as they are ‘ready to put €20m on the plate’ to convince the Serie A club to part ways with the 21-year-old.
We’ll have to see if this happens, but with Kieran Trippier being 31, there needs to be a future in the role beyond the Englishman, and Singo could be that man.
