Last December, we covered claims from Italy that Newcastle United were interested in Dean Huijsen. They weren’t able to carry out a deal in the winter market as Juventus let him join AS Roma on loan until the end of this season.
The 18-year-old has featured regularly for the Giallorossi and the Magpies continue to have him on their radar. Earlier this week, ASRomaLive.it stated Eddie Howe’s side are still in the picture to sign the defender.
This is now backed up by Tutto Juve, who state Newcastle are one of the clubs following the centre-back ahead of the summer window.
The Dutch-born defender’s performances for Roma saw him make his debut for Spain U21 in this month’s international break. It’s also helped Huijsen draw the attention of other clubs as the report says he has ‘many admirers abroad’, including Newcastle.
The Tyneside club are looking to sign a defender, especially after Sven Botman suffered a serious setback, and Huijsen could be an option for them.
Tutto Juve add Newcastle ‘have the financial resources’ to sign him, without specifying the figures they could offer to the Old Lady. Huijsen’s deal with Juve lasts until 2028 and they are keen on retaining him.
