For the past few years, it’s been rather normal to see the City Group linked to a big number of South American youngsters who have barely debuted for their clubs.
We get a new name to that list this week, as outlet UOL reports that there’s now interest in signing Palmeiras winger Giovani.
The outlet writes that the City Group made a first approach for the signing and showed they’re willing to spend €10m on the player.
The Brazilian side, however, claimed they want €20m plus €5m in performance bonus.
Even though it’s not always clear if these youngsters would go straight to Manchester City, UOL writes that the player is in the Premier League side’s plans, and will continue to be, despite that first refusal.
The report adds that Giovani has over 100 goals for Palmeiras’ youth ranks.
The 17-year-old only has nine appearances for the first team so far, and that was apparently enough to draw the attention from Pep Guardiola’s side.
