Remember last summer when José Mourinho was desperately trying to find a striker to back up Harry Kane?

During that time, which eventually led to the loan of Carlos Vinicius from Benfica, Tottenham made an approach for Andrea Belotti.

The Torino chiefs confirmed as much, but it was made clear Spurs’ offer, said to be of €50m in the shape of a loan with an option to buy, wasn’t good enough and Urbano Cairo turned it down.

Calciomercato look at Belotti’s future again, recalling all of this in a piece that sees them now send the player to AS Roma, where Mourinho will take over from Paulo Fonseca at the end of the season.

The Italian striker remains a target of his, and with a contract now expiring in just over 12 months time, he’s available for much cheaper.

It’s explained ‘the arrival of Mourinho could accelerate everything’ and the valuation is no longer €50m, but ‘a bit more than half that’.

His wages of €3.5m/year are achievable by Roma, and the ‘Mou factor’ could tip the scales in Roma’s favour when fighting the competition.

Whether Tottenham will be one of them again remains to be seen, but it appears it was more of a Mourinho target than the club’s.
