On Monday, journalist Gianluca Di Marzio stated Nottingham Forest have initiated contact to sign Rosario Central star Alejo Véliz.
The striker has starred this year, managing 11 goals and an assist from 23 games. This has seen him attract interest from Italy and England.
According to Página 12, Torino and AC Milan have shown strong interest in the 19-year-old while Nottingham Forest have taken steps to acquire his signature.
The first proposal of $6m [£4.7m] from an Italian club was rejected. It’s further claimed Steve Cooper’s side submitted a $10m [£7.8m] bid last weekend and it was also turned down by Rosario Central.
The player has a $15m [£11.7m] release clause and Rosario Central are convinced an offer close to his clause will arrive in the next few days.
Página 12 explain that a ‘new proposal is expected’ from Nottingham Forest but there’s no mention of the fee they are planning to offer.
The website states Véliz has informed the club he ‘wants to leave’. The Argentine side are well aware they can’t keep rejecting offers and are ‘preparing to negotiate’ his transfer to Europe.
If there’s an agreement for Véliz’s sale, Página 12 say Rosario Central would request taking him back on loan until the end of this year.
