On January 25th, Foot Mercato stated there was a concrete interest in Newcastle United’s Allan Saint-Maximin from AC Milan.
A day later, the same outlet explained the winger’s agent was trying to get him out of the Premier League side in January and the Magpies would need €30m to sanction his sale.
Two days ago, Eddie Howe had ruled out the 25-year-old leaving Newcastle in the winter market and insisted he is a vital part of his plans at the Tyneside club.
The Rossoneri’s interest in the Frenchman has been revealed by his intermediary, Fabrizio Ferrari, during an interview with DAZN.
He also explained why Saint-Maximin didn’t move to the San Siro in the recently concluded window.
“It was a conversation. We took measures, but there was never a real opportunity to see him at Milan. I think there was at least appreciation for the player, but we didn’t go ahead because Milan had other priorities. [The] will of the player? How can you not like this club,” he was quoted as saying by Sportitalia.
Ferrari’s comments on the attacker are also relayed by Pianeta Milan, where they focus on the possibility of Saint-Maximin joining the Italian champions after this season.
The outlet states Ferrari was the intermediary in the negotiations between Newcastle and Milan over a deal for the player’s transfer.
“Milan? There has never been a real negotiation, there is certainly some interest from the player. This summer? Never say never, nobody says no beforehand to Milan,” Ferrari said.
