As the Dutch media continues to reveal what went wrong between Leeds United and Alfred Schreuder, it’s now De Telegraaf who feature a piece with a few more details on this story.
According to the outlet, it was Victor Orta who was more keen on the signing. It’s said he was ‘convinced’ that the former Ajax boss would succeed at Elland Road and save them from relegation, but Andrea Radrizzani didn’t agree with him.
De Telegraaf says the Leeds owner was even ‘charmed’ by Schreuder, but believes he has ‘too little experience’ with escaping from the relegation zone. With his little ‘knowledge of the Premier League’, he wouldn’t be able to do much there, and then the idea was ruled out.
That’s why, even though the deal ‘seemed to be done’, the Whites called off his arrival ‘at the last minute’. The manager and his agent Milos Malenovic are now back in the Netherlands ‘without a contract’, and that’s something they certainly did not expect.
De Telegraaf also state Leeds United are set to be taken over by their US investors, and relegation is unthinkable for them.
Leeds then continue to search for Jesse Marsch’s replacement, and are currently linked to the likes of Nuno Espírito Santo, Andoni Iraola and Steven Gerrard.
