According to claim in the Turkish media, Besiktas are showing interest in Portuguese defender Nélson Semedo following his departure from Wolverhampton Wanderers last month.

The Black Eagles want to sign an experienced right back in this transfer window and are back in the market after their failed attempts to sign Kyle Walker-Peters last week.

Walker-Peters was due to fly to Istanbul on a scheduled flight, but backed out of the move due to family reasons. Since then, the former Southampton player has signed for West Ham United on a three-year deal.

Hürriyet report on Besiktas’ continued search for a right back, with reports Semedo has emerged as a target for the Super Lig side.

It’s claimed negotiations have been initiated with the former Wolves player as they look to sign him on a free transfer.

However, it seems Besiktas have other options if they can’t convince the Portugal international player over the move, and it’s reported Leicester City’s James Justin and AC Milan’s Emerson Royal are also on their agenda.

Semedo made 182 appearances in all competitions during his five year stay with Wolves, scoring three goals. There had been hopes he could stay, but Vítor Pereira appeared to dash those hopes in a lengthy interview he gave to the Portuguese media at the weekend.

Still, until Semedo has signed elsewhere the possibility remains.
