Earlier on Friday, we covered a report reaffirming that Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot was a target for AS Roma.
The news came from two different sources in Italy, with both claiming Tiago Pinto, the club’s technical director, was sorting out a strategy to get the Portuguese player to Rome and reunite him with José Mourinho.
Il Tempo on Friday have their own slant on the attempts, and have a lot more detail than their counterparts to boot.
They explain that AS Roma want him on loan, which is ‘the same formula’ proposed by Milan in the summer, but Pinto ‘could try to take Dalot at an even lower price’.
His wages of €2.5m a year are ‘not low but affordable’, and they should ‘guarantee him half to have him until June’.
The problem, or ‘obstacle’, as they put it, is Manchester United, who ‘link his departure to the purchase of Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid’, where ‘negotiations are also continuing on that front’.
Either way, Roma are ‘waiting confidently and expect to have a definitive answer within a month’.
Other options are also being evaluated, but it seems Dalot is at the top of the list, perhaps because Mourinho has already worked with and would know exactly what he’d be getting.
